End of an era!

We’ve been revisiting old menu items — not only to provide a little bit of nostalgia for you, but also as an opportunity for us to reminisce and reflect on the most glorious years we’ve had at Café Polo.

It’s very bittersweet for us to share the news that we will be hanging up their aprons and handing over the reins.

Three friends working harmoniously together in a café and restaurant could have easily remained a pipe dream in the back of the brain. But we worked incredibly hard and made it a reality! This chapter of our lives is something we’ll truly treasure.

With the hard work of the most amazing team members and the undying loyalty of the community around us, we’ve managed to continue a business handed down to us by people we truly admired, and built it into a space we’re incredibly proud of.

To our customers — we’ve watched your families grow. We’ve celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, new babies and other milestones with you. We’ve also been there for some of the harder moments, when you’ve grieved and needed somewhere familiar to come. And, in turn, you’ve been there for us through some of the biggest moments of our own lives.

We’ve had the enormous privilege of working alongside some incredibly talented young people over the years. Some came to us for their first hospo job and went on to do amazing things, while others have willingly picked up the call in our times of desperation. We’re incredibly proud of the team we’ve built and the people who have helped make Café Polo what it is.

Café Polo has been part of our everyday lives for so many years. It has been early mornings, sleepless nights, busy weekends, stressful days, brilliant days and everything in between. It has been a huge amount of work — but also one of the greatest and proudest achievements of our lives.

Our lives now look very different from when we first took on the challenge of owning our favourite café and, in turn, our priorities have shifted. So, with a very full heart (and still working as harmoniously as ever!), we’re announcing that our last day running the show at Café Polo will be November 14.

There is a lot of emotion wrapped up in this next chapter, but there is also an enormous amount of gratitude.

For now, we’re ready to make the five and a half weeks we have left our best yet! We hope to see as many familiar faces as possible, and we’ll try not to get too emotional every time someone tells us how long they’ve been coming to Café Polo.
